Undergrad research papers
The PhB degree at ANU requires that you do 3 minor + 3 major semester-long research projects. They are not peer-reviewed articles, but I was proud of some of the earlier science writing I did.
| Title | Date |
|---|---|
| Optical vortices: a brief investigation into more complex dynamics of light interference that can produce vortex and knot structures. | Nove 2016 |
| Boron nitride vacancies: a simple simulation demonstrating a possible factor-10 enhancement of boron nitride vacancies as a single photon source using a microcavity. | Nov 2016 |
| Centaurus A: a project where I used an automated tool Source Extractor to remove the foreground stars of Centaurus A Sky Mapper images to better study the galactic structure. | Jun 2016 |
| Twins paradox: a literature review presenting a quantitative analysis of the twin’s paradox of special relativity, solved without invoking general relativity. | Jun 2016 |
| Duffing oscillator6: an in-depth simulation of the chaotic behaviour of the Duffing oscillator, including bifurcation diagrams and chaotic attractors. | Apr 2016 |
| Stellar atmospheres: a report on a python package I developed to plot and extract results from a 3D stellar atmosphere code. | Jun 2015 |
| Theory-laden observation: a discussion on the objectivity (or lack thereof) of observation as a means of testing scientific theories. | Nov 2014 |
| Problem of Induction: a discussion on how induction (inference from repeated observations) can be used to create new knowledge, and potential solutions by embracing a more mathematical fraemwork. | Sep 2014 |
